Black Sheep is committed to educating the community and our audiences about new music. We aim to expand out audience base past the typical contemporary-classical concert goer by educating others about what we do, why it is important, and how they can become involved. In 2018 we received an Opportunity Grant from the City of Boston to give a workshop on graphic scores at the East Boston Public Library. We aim to continue these types of programs and expand our reach. If you would like to support this kind of work, consider making a donation on our Support page.
Engaging and educating the community about new music is one of Black Sheep’s main aspirations. The ensemble’s weekly Black Sheep Live events hosted on Facebook explore and discuss works by different living composers. With no admission charged and a global reach, these events have been viewed by audiences who often find traditional concerts and lectures cost prohibitive or do not live in a metropolitan area.
